Forming are on the verge of releasing their debut album but the Leeds-based three-piece aren’t exactly newcomers. Until recently Ian Mitchell (vocals/ guitar), Ben Dawson (bass/ vocals) and Mike Evans (drums) played together as Unstable Journey. A psychedelic force to be reckoned with, the band released some astounding music. Just listen to the dizzying heights they reached on the sprawling 19 minutes of sonic catharsis that make up The Maintenance Of Sameness (from the ace Beast Market album, pop fans). The songs were different enough that they prompted a name change yet Forming is simply the next step in the band’s ever-fascinating evolution.
